Boston College comes up short at Notre Dame, 20-16

The Boston College Eagles simply turned the ball over way too much in a 20-16 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Eagles had several opportunities to rally back and upset the Irish, but each time they were turned away by the Notre Dame defense.

Turnovers, especially interceptions from the quarterback, absolutely killed Boston College’s hopes of a big win.

Still, the game is something Boston College should be able to build off of the rest of the season as they hang tough in the ACC race.

Boston College trounces N.C. State, 52-20

The Boston College Eagles put an embarassing beatdown on the host North Carolina State Wolfpack, 52-20.

The Eagles had double-digit point totals in all but the fourth quarter and took a 24-13 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was the most dominant of the day for Boston College, which scored 21 unanswered points to turn it into a blowout.

The Eagles were predicted by just about everyone to finish in last place in the Atlantic Division, yet find themselves in first halfway through the season.

As for N.C. State, it’s been a terribly disappointing season that took a real turn for the worse over the past two weeks.

Boston College knocks off Florida State, 28-21

The Boston College Eagles jumped out to a big first half lead and held on for a 28-21 win over the Florida State Seminoles.

The Eagles took advantage of Florida State’s aggressiveness on defense by hitting a couple of big plays down the field.

Despite Florida State’s athleticism, Boston College’s wide receivers were consistently burning the Seminoles’ defensive backs.

The defense was equally as impressive in the first half, completely flustering the Seminoles.

All of the sudden, Boston College has emerged as a threat in the Atlantic Division despite predictions of a last place finish.

B.C. Eagles Send FSU Into Tailspin

A 25-year-old freshman quarterback making his second collegiate start just beat the second most winningest coach in college football. QB Dave Shinskie led the Boston College Eagles to an improbable 28-21 victory over the Florida State Seminoles, recovering after blowing an 18-point lead.

Shinskie had a little help along the way, with RB Montel Harris having a career day with 179 yards on 25 carries and two TDs. Harris iced the game for the Eagles, scoring on a 42-yard run with slightly more than four minutes left in the game.

After the Eagles stopped Florida State on fourth down with barely over two minutes left, Harris broke off a 39-yard run, allowing Boston College to run out the clock and move to 4-1 on the season.

Shinskie finished 12 of 21 for 201 yards and two touchdowns.

FSU’s Chris Ponder led the Seminoles on two touchdown drives in the second half, but the balanced BC offense kept FSU guessing all day and proved to be too much for Florida State in the end.

Boston College honored linebacker Mark Herzlich, who was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, and is sitting out the season. Herzlich fired up the crowd with a pregame address over the public address system, prowling the sidelines waving a yellow towel during the game.
